I love being tan. Actually, I take that back. I love being dark. Whenever I see Beyonce strutting her stuff on the red carpet or singing her heart out on stage, I tell my adorable husband, "That is what I want my skin tone to look like!" Her caramel complexion is so pretty! His response? "Um... You know you two are different races, right?" Thank you for raining on my parade, Captain Obvious! ;)

Don't get me wrong... I think porcelain skin can be stunning. (Helloooo, Marcia Cross!) Unfortunately, my natural color is a pale, sallow tone. If it were up to me, I'd be the same bootylicious shade as Mrs. Jay-Z year 'round. I used to rely on tanning beds or would lie on our rooftop (sans sunscreen) to get my bronze on, very rarely using self tanners. One of my New Year's resolutions is to refrain from both. I still plan to lounge on the rooftop, but only if I have SPF lotion slathered on every inch of my body. Thus, the hunt for the perfect self tanner is on!
[I'm sad I'm not this color all the time. LOL!]
The only sunless tanners I have had success with in the past are made by Chanel and Guerlain, neither of which are easy on the pocketbook. Being jobless = being thrifty. (Yes, I could work the street corners to support my sun-kissed habit, but the health benefits and 401K plans are garbage. Ha ha ha!) Jergen's products are reasonably priced, but don't give me the color I desire.
The gorgeous Miss Natty wrote about what she does to stay dark, which can be viewed here. I am getting antsy to try the products she uses, as her skin tone is such a pretty shade!
What do you use to get a summer glow?

black? asian? its all the same!!!! hahaha! ;P
Kym - Bahahaha! So, you're saying I DO look like Beyonce? YES!!!! (I just did the pulled back fist pump thingy. Do you know what I'm talking about? LMBO!)
Hahaha, great post as usual! I can totally relate! My skin tone is neither porcelain, nor tan. I have a lot of yellow undertones to my skin, which I love in the summer because it gives me a golden tan. But I hate it in the winter because my skin just looks awkward and blah. I recently bought bronzer from L'oreal so I'm hoping that works on my legs. I kinda also wanna buy some self tanner from Victorias secret because I've recently seen it in the catalogues.
My man is DARK (very) and when we take a picture even if I feel tanned with him I am a total Ghost (Hello Casper) lol That sucks! I want to be DARK TOO !
You know what we should only have Pale friends so we will always look DARK =)
ps: Marcia Cross Is freaking HOT by the way lol! we shoudl ask her to be our new pale friend lol
Asian can be that complexion, too!
Used self tanner products, it's safer. L'Oreal had some good products. And Jergens has a lotion.
I have a natural Summer Glow! lol
ahh i LOVE being tan too. i cant wait for summer to be walking around half naked working on my tan lol
Waddup Bronze Goddess!!!
Dude. I think we live in the state where it's SUPER hard to get a tan! lol Since I've moved here, my skin got paler and paler lollllllllllll
When my momma visited, she noticed & then called me chubs haha (cause you know a tan makes you look healthier and more fit/thin) gotta love the body contour of a tan!
I saw some reviews on a product called St. Barts? It's not the Nars Multiple it's it's own brand of body tanner, and a few makeup artists [MUA's] were talking about it's magical powers. If I come across it I'll definitely holla!
haha i'm actually naturally tan and get darker in the summer and i actually wish i was more pale and light!
Trust me hun I kno how you feel. I always used to try to lay out to tan but I could never keep a bronze look for long. I've been hearing good things about Clarins instant tanners though. Wish someone would do a review on that one. lol Your complexion is lovely no matter what though! :)
i love ur skin color! i wish mine would get a little brown, when im in the sun it just gets red, red, red ooh and peely cant forget the wonders of a good sunburn=( i like color enhancing products tho like Sally Hansen's spray on tan for my legs omg wouldnt go anywhere w/o several layers on!!
<33 Sharlene
i dont still have my summer tone. im pale as hell! lol but i love beyonce's golden color! its so not fair!!
I just stand by the whitest person I can find. Fortunate for me, I have a handy dandy boyfriend as white as snow.
hahaha! This post made me laugh! "Thank you for raining on my parade, Captain Obvious!" Sounds JUST like my husband!!! LOL!
I can't say I can relate though cause I'm a little darker than Beyonce! I'm usually trying NOT to get overly tan. I went to Hawaii for my honeymoon and came back darker than I've ever been in my life. I was NOT fan! I'll take my caramel/tawny tone as is, thank you! lol

Beysus is gorgeous no doubt! And I'm glad you are taking sun precautions while tanning! :) Good luck!
I think any skin tone can be quite beautiful~
Woman, you are gorgeous!! Your complexion is beautiful! But I totally know what you mean about Beyonce...her skintone is a perfect honey color. So jel! We always want what we don't have!
I'm naturally tanned but in the summmer, I want to have a nice bronze color to my skin. Ulta has great self-tanning towelettes and there's also a lotion by Fake Bake that's called Sunless and Skinny Self Tanner. It instantly tans your skin and also firms and tones skin! I like those 2 products a lot!
I can never, EVER tan. I've had brief tans before, but they fade very quickly. I'd also tried self-tanner, but that turned me yellow. -_-
you look beautiful the way you are!

ugh, I know what you mean. I'm asian too so ofcourse I had to be born with pale shit skin.... ugh however my friend works at beach bum! so i get to tan for free! but I barely go - that shit is dangerous lol. & I'm waaay to skeptical about drugstore product tanning, I'm just not convinced, I feel like it may rub off on my clothes or come out un even, oh well, thank god for face bronzers though!\
x
Ugh, I feel your pain. I do not like how my natural skin tone looks...I'll go without tanner for a while to see if I can get used to it, but I never do. I still haven't found the perfect self tanner though.
I love to tan and get sun too and be dark - but like you, I am trying to refrain! As I get older I know that I need to watch out and not get too many UV rays! But oh how I love the sun!!
Beautygirl24 - That's EXACTLY the problem I have! If I were porcelain, I'd be okay with that. If I were dark, I'd be okay with that. I feel like my skin is a weird in-between color. LOL! Let me know how the VS tanner works out for ya!
Chloe - LMBO!!!! Okay, let's holler at Marcia Cross. You fiance will need to walk ten feet behind or ahead of us so that we don't get compared to him. Ha ha ha!
Rai - Yeah, self tanner is the way to go! Dang you and your natural summer glow! LOL!
Cristina - FA SHO! All of my summer clothes are waiting to be worn. I better get my arse in shape before it starts heating up! LOL!
Steph - HA HA HA at Bronze Goddess! I can't believe your mom called you chubs! You're right; tans always make one look more toned! In the summer, it gets really nice here. It's usually in the 70s and 80s! Woop woop! Are you thinking of the St. Tropez and St. Moritz tanners? Those are supposed to be good!
amynaree - That's too funny! We always want what we don't have, don't we? LOL!
Kiss - Aw, thank you! You know what? I actually have Clarins self-tanner! I don't remember it giving me a dark tan, but it's been awhile... Maybe I should try it again! If I do, I'll post a review! :)
Sharlene - Oh no! Sunburns are the worst! You probably don't want to hear this, but, I never burn. LOL! I just get really dark. My husband gets burnt to a crisp in the sun and has to be extra careful!
Cosmo - Isn't Beyonce's color gorgeous? She's the perfect shade! Sometimes I think I should embrace my natural color, but I feel like I look sickly!
Louzee - I laughed out loud when I read your comment! I stand next to my husband, and I look tan, too! My guy is tall, fair skinned, and has blonde hair!
Glamour and Love - LOL! Those silly husbands... They're always "raining on our parades". ;) When did you get married? I love Hawai'i! I loved the tan I got when we were there!
wjandsw - Thanks! Yeah, I completely agree. Dark skin, light skin -- whatever! Everyone is beautiful in their own way!
Miss P - Aw, you are too sweet! And YOU are the gorgeous one! OMG! I get dark in the summer, too. Oh, how wish I could keep the color year 'round! Thank you so much for the product suggestions. I'm at Ulta all the time and will check them out the next time I go!
Lisa - Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that you were the victim of a yellow tanner! Orange is also bad! LOL!
Jade - You are so sweet! Thank you so much! I should just be happy with my natural skin tone, but man oh man... I love being golden! LOL!
For the Fierce - I'm all about wearing bronzer! I wear it every day. Your friend is so lucky! I'd love to work on the beach. Although, I work in health care, so I'm not sure how that would work. LOL!
tiff - You have a great skin tone and are gorgeous! Your hair color is really flattering, too! I think we're all still on the hunt for our HG tanner. St. Tropez is supposed to be great, but it's pretty pricey!
Lindsey - I am a sun-holic! I noticed that we're the same age; I am already noticing fine lines around my eyes. I don't want to exacerbate them! LOL!
I want Beyonce's behind...oooops, did I say that aloud?? hahaha
Yes, B's skintone is beautiful!!! Where are her pores?? The woman is so beautiful!! I too love, Marcia Cross :D
Fake tanner is all we need, chica! I never used a tanning bed =/
I love your pouty face, it's too cute!!!
oooooo, I've never tried Chanel or Guerlain tanner, maybe you can write reviews? ;-) via youtube *hint hint*
I don't tan too easily, you already know that, I still haven't figured out an easy way to tan safely =/ Can't wait to see what you find :)
i miss my summer tan =[
winter needs to end already!
my face is really pale so i wear a face powder that's a shade darker LOL
which is a problem when your sweating in the club..
u walk in with a nice tan face and walk out looking pale and sick lol
Aaaah...I pretty much can never get that super porcelain look so I definitely am all for the sexy tanned goddess since it is all the more achievable. You are most definitely a sexy tanned goddess lol.
Summertime is my secret weapon. You can't escape the Texas sun so I have no choice lol!
lol 1 more reason why i love you, your so crazy lol.
J-ezzy - I want her behind, too! LMBO! (LMBBO?) I was "blessed" with a flat Asian arse. I don't know where her pores went. I'm starting to think she just doesn't have any. I'm glad you've never used a tanning bed! It's oddly relaxing, but not worth it. I make that pouty face a lot. It doesn't work on my husband any more. He's seen it too many times. ;) Yeah, I might do a WRITTEN review on the tanners I like! Bahahaha! I'm so excited that you made a video and posted it! I want to see more!
PiinkCupcakez - I hear ya! I love wearing heavy jackets and sweaters, but I want my tan back! LMBO at your coming out of the clubs pale! Ha ha ha! It'd be awesome if it wore off unevenly. Sexay! ;)
Irene - Aw, thanks! LOL! I would be okay if I were porcelain, but I'm not. I'm that weird in between shade. Not light, but not dark? I wish my skin would make up its mind! Oooh, Texas sun sounds nice right now! Dry heat for me, please! :) Washington has nice summers, too!
Bombchell - You so crazy, you make me wanna have yo baby! Yeow! (Ha ha ha! I'm bringing Salt N' Peppa back!)
Hi Kate thanks for stopping by. I'm so happy u like my YSL lippie coz I have to use it one way or another :D
I always wonder how I'd look like tanned ^_^ . Not as much as Beyonce there...I'm thinking more like Victoria Beckham. Maybe I should try using some products n find out this summer. Now u got me all excited to find out! :D
♥XX♥
Kate your tan is GORGEOUS!!!
I use gradual tanners :) I get spray tans aswell, but like once every 1-2months :) But in the LIGHTEST shade, orelse I go ORANGE! embarassing haha
Cynthia - You're welcome! The packaging on that lipstick is amazing. I'd pull it out all the time just to look at it. LOL! A Victoria Beckham tan would be nice, too! It's much more achievable than Beyonce's. LOL!
April - Aw, thank you! How are you, missy?!
Lorien BeautyLove - You don't want to look like an Oompa Loompa or a member of the Jersey Shore cast? What?! ;) I have the Jergens gradual tanner, which isn't too bad. I'd like to try St. Tropez, Xen-Tan, Sun Labs, Luminess, or St. Moritz!
I used to have a butt, that's when I was about 30 lbs heavier, then when I lost all the weight, the butt was mainly what left, I never ever had a gut until now...which is weird b/c I'm at 106 now...the fat NO LONGER goes to my butt, it all goes to my gutt (hint hint, get it? lol...okay, not so funny)
My pouty face lost it's effectiveness a long time ago, lol.
xoxo
Aww I miss being tanned too. When I'm dark, not only do I look healthier, I feel healthier too haha.
LADYJANE - I do, too! It's nice to know I'm not alone. LOL! If I had beautiful porcelain skin, I'd totally rock it. But sallow skin? That just looks sickly! LOL!
