Creamery Creek Goat Milk Soap Review

Goat Milk Soap = ♥

Creamery Creek Goat Milk Soap has received rave reviews from multiple YouTubers, including the lovely "ginabinawina99".  Check out her honest, incredibly thorough review here.

[Everything smelled divine!]

After perusing Creamery Creek's website, I whipped out my debit card and placed an order.  I could not wait for my goodies to arrive!

My Thoughts...

Creamery Creek definitely lives up to the hype.  Why?

"First of all, and second of all..."

(Sorry.  Drunken Deena's first night in the 'Jersey Shore' house is still fresh in my mind.  LOL!)

Below I've listed my pros and cons.  Keep reading to learn why this soap makes my skin rejoice!

[How cute is this little guy?]

PROS:
  •  This soap lathers into a luxuriously rich, heavily whipped cream.  I have never seen anything like it!
  • Doesn't dry out your skin.
  • Comes in realistic scents.  No artificial, plastic fragrances!
  • Lightning fast shipping.  (No, seriously.  My order arrived in two days.)
  • Extra goodies were generously included, as well as a handwritten thank you note.
  • $5.00 a bar.  Not bad, considering the bars are hefty.
CONS:
  •  The scents are light and do not linger.  That said, to some, this may actually be considered a pro.  This soap is great for those with sensitive skin -- and noses.
[All of these ingredients are fantastic for parched skin.]

I highly recommend you check out Creamery Creek's soaps.  I will definitely be re-purchasing from them again!

On a Fun Note...

I am happy to announce that my adorable hubby and I recently celebrated ELEVEN years of happiness together!

We went on our first date in 1999, became an official couple in 2000, and wed in 2003.  Not only is the guy my husband...  He is my best friend.

I love him more than anything in this world!

[Insert 1980s - 1990s "Whoooo!" sound here.  You know, the idiotic noise they played on sitcoms whenever people kissed.  Ha ha!]

Have a great week, everyone!

Review: Ariel's Secret Garden

What is this?  A post from Kate Gene?

No, you are not hallucinating.  [Insert excuses for not blogging here.]  After (what's considered) a century of silence in the beauty community, I am back with a review of a wonderful company: Ariel's Secret Garden.

Ariel's Secret Garden is an Etsy Shop that sells delicious homemade bath treats.  Sherri and Ariel, the mother and daughter team behind the brand, sell fresh goat milk soap, pretty bubble bars, luxurious body frosting, and other fragrant goodies to pamper your skin.

I ordered a five ounce bar of Honey Crunch (their LUSH "Honey I Washed the Kids" dupe) during their summer sale.  My grand total, including shipping, came to $7.84.  A little over a week later, a weighty, sweet smelling envelope arrived in our mail box.

[The only item I actually ordered was the bar of soap pictured on the bottom, right.  Can you say "generous"?]

After eagerly tearing into my bubble mailer, my jaw dropped.  I received far more than I ordered.  Sherri and Ariel are notorious for their cute packaging and substantial samples.  Still...  I had only ordered one bar of soap!

Nestled safely inside layers of bubble wrap, I first discovered the samples:

Lavender Martini Soap Samples

Lavender and booze may sound like a strange combination, but together create a lovely aroma!  Although I normally prefer to use liquid hand soap, I used these samples every time I needed to wash up.  They left my hands feeling soft, smooth, and lightly scented.

Mulberry Soap Samples

Mulberry smells like a sweet, slightly tart, ripe mulberry.  It was my favorite fragrance of the bunch!  Like my Lavender Martini samples, they left my skin looking, feeling, and smelling wonderful!

Cherry Bomb Soap Freebie

As if the samples I received weren't enough, a whole bar of Cherry Bomb soap was thrown in.  It smelled exactly like a cherry sucker!  It felt fantastic on my skin, and had a very strong scent.  I prefer heavily perfumed products, and this more than met my needs.

Honey Crunch Bar of Soap

This soap smells rich and yummy.  It was the only bar of soap out of the bunch that was created using olive oil.  I typically prefer goat milk soap, however, this bar didn't let me down.

Everything Else

A coupon card, a personalized thank you card, and a Hello Kitty bag with an umbrella charm were also thrown in.  (I live in the rainy Emerald City; the charm is very fitting!)

I can't thank the ladies at Ariel's Secret Garden enough!  They are true professionals and very sweet!  I will definitely be purchasing from them again in the future.  Please check out their Etsy Shop, YouTube Channel, and blog.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

My Etsy Wish List

If you are looking for a unique and handmade treasure, I highly recommend you head over to Etsy.com.  I have been a fan of Etsy for years, and am pleased to see the recent influx of YouTubers and Bloggers promoting the website.  Having grown up surrounded by entrepreneurs, I am all about supporting home based businesses.

After a recent "online window shopping excursion", I found three stores of interest that I thought I would share with you.  I have yet to purchase from any of them, but based on all of the positive feedback I skimmed through, I definitely will be in the future.

Original Tableaux by Nateara Barabas

When my adorable husband and I were in our late teens, we proudly displayed a matted and framed picture of cigar-smoking dogs playing poker in our home.  (Yes, folks...  We felt this "masterpiece" was worthy of not only a frame, but a mat as well.  Ha!)  We thought it was hilarious, thus making us hilarious for owning it.  Fortunately, our taste in decor has since evolved into something a little less...  caninepokeresque.

Although I appreciate all kinds of art, my eyes are always drawn to abstract pieces like the ones created by Russian artist, Nateara Barabas.  These amazing canvases give off a modern, urban vibe that would fit nicely into our home.  The flowers are feminine, but the deep, rich colors anchor the pieces, making them appealing to both men and women.  My husband and I absolutely love them!

Check out more of the extremely talented Nateara's work here.

The Ivory Magnolia by Dedra Harvin

Having satiny smooth and deliciously scented skin is of utmost importance to me.  Products, such as the ones sold at Dedra Harvin's Etsy shop, make my heart flutter.  Candied Blueberries, Pink Cotton Candy, and Blue Coconut Cream are just a few of her delightful scents.

When I wrote to Dedra (a.k.a. Dee), requesting permission to use her photographs for this post, she responded immediately.  Her warmth and kindness could be felt through her words, which is such a rarity these days.  Creamy, whipped, and looking downright edible, Dee's sweetly fragranced confections are a hit with her customers.  It's no wonder she has 100% positive feedback!

This month, all of The Ivory Magnolia's watermelon scented goodies are 15% off.  How cute is her watermelon soap?

NYLightMetals by Regina Pierallini

"If a man who cannot count finds a four-leaf clover, is he lucky?" - S. Lec

As some of you know, my hubby and family are Irish, so I feel a special connection to Ireland and its people.  For the past year, I have been on the hunt for clover shaped jewelry.  There is something so elegant and timeless about the four leaf design.  Unfortunately, the collections I have been swooning over cost more than I currently have in my piggy bank.  You can imagine my delight when I discovered Regina Pierallini's wallet friendly necklaces.

These are some of my must-have pieces for the Summer:

How great would these necklaces go with a cute summer dress?

Regina's store offers something for nearly everyone: pretty vintage baubles, sparkling jewels fit for a bride, cheerful candy-colored adornments, and more.  If she doesn't have exactly what you're looking for, do not hesitate to send her a message as she may be able to create a custom piece for you.

Check out Regina's Etsy store here, her website here, and be sure to tell her I said hello!  She is a complete doll!

Now if only I could find someone to make me a grill...  I need to have my people to call L'il Wayne's people.  Ha!

Have a great day, everyone!

P. S.  Don't forget to enter my International $180.00 SkinCareRx Microderm Giveaway!

June 24, 2010

SkinCareRx International $180.00 Personal Microderm Giveaway! [CLOSED]

Those of you who have been following my blog for awhile know that skin care is my number one beauty priority.  Call me crazy, but I have no desire to wake up one day looking like the Asian Crypt Keeper.  (Sexy, he is not.  I'm not hatin', I'm just statin'.  Ha ha ha!)  To keep my complexion bright and healthy, I cleanse, tone, moisturize, slather on products containing SPF, and drink at least 100 ounces of H20 daily.  I also exfoliate a couple times a week utilizing masks and scrubs.

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure that is offered at day spas, medical spas, and dermatology offices.  Dead skin cells are gently buffed away with an abrasion tool and aluminum oxide crystals, leaving your skin supple, vibrant, and smooth.  It is a safe and effective way to rid of or reduce dark spots, sun damage, minor scars, and fine lines.

When I worked at the corporate headquarters of an upscale salon and spa chain, I got to see firsthand the benefits of mircodermabrasion.  Personally, I prefer this method of exfoliating over my current regimen as it produces results that are difficult to achieve on your own.  Unfortunately, treatment is impractical for the budget conscious; an hour long facial costs $130.00.  Luckily, there are options for those of us pinching pennies.

SkincareRx.com is generously offering to give one of my readers a Personal Microderm Set by Age Sciences - an at home microdermabrasion system.  The great thing is, this hand held tool can be used on the face and body, and is simple to use.  Exfoliating is pertinent to maintaining healthy skin; this set will do most of the work for you!

Gift Card Haulin'

Sephora and Ulta employees have seen more of my mug lately than my adorable husband.  I refuse to rest until every last cent of my gift cards are spent!

Here are some of the items I purchased during my last trip to the mall:

[Essie Van D'Go Nail Polish]

My mission to find the perfect Summer polish has officially come to an end.  Essie Van D'Go is peachy, creamy, and neutral enough to wear with most of my wardrobe.  I love it!  It takes three coats to achieve the opacity and streak free finish I desire, but who cares?  This pretty polish is worth the extra elbow grease.

[Healthy Hoof Lacquer]

My former top coat, who shall remain nameless, used to make my brown eyes see red.  Every time I polished my nails, it always managed to make a streaky mess of my handiwork.  We Asians are born natural nail technicians, so I knew the repeated issue was of no fault of my own.  LOL!

My best friend purchased me a bottle of Healthy Hoof Lacquer because I am a centaur with dull hooves after I vented my top coat frustrations.  Once dried, this horse-friendly varnish produces a smooth and glossy looking finish.  I was hooked after one use.  The best part?  It's a mere $2.50.

[NARS Deep Throat]

It's a NARS blush.  Need I say more?

Nope.

[NARS Striptease Gloss & Revlon Peach Gloss]

Both of these glosses feel lightweight, are incredibly pigmented, and appear pretty and peachy in their tubes.  Sadly, each are going to be returned as they made my kisser look alabaster.  (Momma didn't raise no Ganguro Girl!)  There is absolutely nothing wrong with the products themselves; the shades just weren't suitable for my skin tone.

The hunt for the perfect peachy lip gloss continues...

[Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero]

I have never been one to line my waterline.  As a contact lenses wearer, I find products that close to my eyes irritating.  Hopefully this pencil will be the answer to my beauty-related prayers!

[Zebra Loofah]

How cute is this little guy?!  I have yet to use him because I thought it'd be gross to showcase a loofah post-use.  XD

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  The hubby and I plan to BBQ, relax, and maybe squeeze in a little shopping.  I can't wait!

Cupcakes in the tub? Yes! [REVIEW & GIVEAWAY **** CLOSED ****!]

After a long, FML-type of day, my adorable hubby knows just what I need to turn my frown upside down.  While some women light up at the sight of that infamous blue Tiffany box, I go gaga over a different kind of package: the kind that holds a baker's dozen.

This works, too:

Ha ha ha!  Just kidding.

So, I was browsing Etsy, searching for a birthday gift, when I stumbled across myotherprincess' shop.  My jaw fell to the floor.  Bath bombs that look like cupcakes?  Yes, please, and thank you!

The first order I placed was for my best friend.  Her birthday bath bombs sat around our house for days, and had several "close calls" with our tub.  I couldn't risk purposefully accidentally using my friend's gifts, so I purchased the following goodies for myself:

BIRDS OF PARADISE BATH BOMB CUPCAKE FIZZY
Retails for: $5.50

PROS:  This bath bomb smells soooo GOOD!  Strawberries, pomegranate, and vanilla goodness are blended perfectly into this life-sized sweet treat.  Once dissolved, it lightly fragrances your water and turns it a pretty blue hue.  This bomb is perfect for someone who is seeking a yummy fragrance, but doesn't want to be overpowered by it.

CONS:  It's almost too cute to use.  And, despite being a professional cupcake eater, I had a bit of trouble getting the paper off my life-size cupcake.  Ha ha!  It was no biggie, though; I was relaxing in a sea of fizz within minutes of my order arriving.

STRAWBERRY COTTON CANDY CHUNKY LAYERED GOAT'S MILK SOAP
Retails for: $3.75

PROS:  This soap smells INSANELY GOOD.  I am a huge fan of super sweet, fruity, candy-like scents, and this soap is no exception.  It smells of freshly spun clouds of pink sugar and sweet strawberries.  It's extremely strong, which I love, and will linger on your skin for a bit after use.  It lathers with the tiniest splash of water, creating massive amounts of suds and bubbles.  And last, but not least, this soap moisturizes like a dream.  It is honestly the most moisturizing soap I have ever used!

CONS:  None for me!  If you're not a fan of over-the-top sweet scents, you're not going to like this soap.  (To give you an idea of the type of scents I tend to gravitate towards, here are a few perfumes I love to wear: any of the Escada eau de toilettes, Clinique Happy, Marc Jacobs Daisy, and BBW's Black Raspberry Vanilla spray.)

BLUEBERRY CARAMEL PINK SUGAR CHUNKY LAYERED GOAT'S MILK SOAP
Retails for: $3.75

PROS:  See above.  This one also smells DIVINE.  It is the perfect blend of warm sugar, butter, and blueberries.  I cannot keep my nose away from these bars of soap!

CONS:  Child, please!  By now you should know I have nothing negative to say about myotherprincess' products!  ;)

**********

Miranda, the gal behind myotherprincess, is a total sweetheart!  Some of you may have seen me chatting her up on Twitter or on her blog, both of which I recommend you check out!  (Insider Tip: She often tweets about specials!)  She is super crafty and also sells pretty paper products - as well as clothing for babies and little girls - on her other Etsy site: PaperPrincess34.  Miranda's customer service is great, extra surprises were thrown in with both orders, and shipping is lightning fast.  I have nothing but positive things to say!

P. S.  She and her brother must have been raised by Martha Stewart; her brother sells wood creations on Etsy as well: http://www.etsy.com/shop/youngwoodcreations.

Honeycat Cosmetics Review Part II and Giveaway! [CLOSED]

The always fun Ms. Terry at Honeycat Cosmetics was kind enough to send me a couple more goodies to try.  Even more exciting for all of you, she gave me two items to give away!

[L - R: Vanilla Cream Grooming Bar Soap, Whisker Slickers - I'm in Heat Lip Balm]

VANILLA CREAM GROOMING BAR SOAP

Pros: has a faint, pleasant scent (smells like almond oil to me); didn't irritate my sensitive skin; leaves your skin feeling hydrated, soft, and squeaky clean
Cons: contrary to the name, I didn't detect notes of vanilla or cream; scent doesn't linger

WHISKER SLICKERS - I'M IN HEAT LIP BALM

Pros: very soft (but doesn't crumble); incredibly emollient; clear; cinnamon scent; tastes sweet
Cons: it can occasionally make your lips feel warm, which I don't mind, but may bother some

Both products feature Honeycat Cosmetic's signature girly and sassy packaging.  I tend to gravitate towards over-the-top fruity and bakery scents, but these products have a nice, almost aromatherapy-like aroma to them.  It's great, because I think the soap would appeal to both Honeycats and Tomcats.  ;)

♥ GIVEAWAY ♥

[L - R: Sweet Potato Pie Grooming Day Bubble Stuff, Hiss Good Nite Lip Gloss]

Honeycat Cosmetics Review

In 2003, I worked in the corporate office of a salon and spa chain.  The following is a real conversation I had with one of our patrons via the telephone:

Customer:  "I take baths with one of my cats.  She swims around my legs.  I use the same products on her hair that I do on mine!"  [insert cackle]

Me (masking my horror):  "Oh, that's too funny!"

Customer Crazy Cat Lady:  "Your office is close to my house...  When are you free?  I can bring her by and you can meet her!"

Me, thinking to myself:  "I am available three weeks from never.  I'll pencil you in."

Don't get me wrong; I am a huge feline fan.  I strongly believe I Can Haz Cheeseburger is one of the best sites ever created.  My adorable husband and I are proud parents to the cutest fur kid around and spoil him rotten.  However, we prefer to reserve our
TREsemmé and Crew products for our 'dos, not his.  P. S.  Our idea of a bath differs greatly from his.  Ha!

I shower in the morning, but love to take baths in the evening to unwind.  Needless to say, I was incredibly excited when Terry at Honeycat Cosmetics generously sent me a box full of delicious smelling goodness to review.  (Terry has a super fun personality, by the way!  Love her!)  Honeycat Cosmetics has been featured in multiple publications, such as OK! Magazine and Elle.  The infamous Pinkiecharm (a.k.a. Irene) on YouTube has raved about their products.  She is notorious for her brutally honest reviews, so I knew Honeycat had to be good.  I couldn't wait to test these products out!

[L - R:  Sweet Potato Pie Grooming Day Bubble Stuff, Calypso Kitty Moisturizing Tropical Scrub, Honeycat Shower Gel, & Rub My Tummy, Milk and Honey Hand and Body Cream]

[Hiss Goodnight Pink Peppermint Lipgloss in Pink Kisses]

PROS & CONS

Sweet Potato Pie Grooming Day Bubble Stuff

Pros:  Smells great, is moisturizing, affordable.
Cons:  Scent is mild and doesn't linger.

Calypso Kitty Moisturizing Tropical Scrub
Pros:  Smells AMAZING, is moisturizing, the best exfoliating body product I have ever used!

Cons:  $20.00 for one jar.  (It's worth every cent, though!  I am in love with this stuff!)

Honeycat Shower Gel

Pros:  Lathers well, a little bit goes a long way, smells like peach brandy and brown sugar, is moisturizing.
Cons:  If you're not a fan of peach brandy, you're not going to like this scent.  However, please note that the scent is mild and doesn't linger.

Milk and Honey Hand and Body Cream

Pros:  Very moisturizing, leaves your skin buttery smooth, not greasy.  Has a unique scent that smells like almond oil (and something else I can't quite put my finger on).
Cons:  Is more of a runny lotion than a cream, but who cares?  The cream - especially when combined with the scrub - leaves your skin feeling lush. [Edit: They are working on the consistency of the product!]

Hiss Goodnight Pink Peppermint Lipgloss in Pink Kisses
Pros: Extremely lightweight, not sticky, the craziest gloss I have ever seen.  (In person it looks like I have foiled my lips!)
Cons:  Glitter is difficult to remove, but that comes with any glittery product.  A bit pricey at $16.00.

I was extremely impressed by this line, especially the scrub.  The packaging is durable, girly, and cute.
(Even their packing tape has their logo on it!)  Another bonus?  They "never test on animals -- especially sexy felines".  LOL!  Honeycat Cosmetics are sold online and at select stores and spas.  They offer a variety of items to pamper yourself with, including candles and bath bombs...  I recommend that you check 'em out!
