Yo' face so greasy, if you had pimples, they'd fall off!

I have the oiliest T-Zone in the world.  Fifteen minutes after washing my face, it appears as though I have dunked my head into a bag of Lay's and sprayed PAM across my forehead and nose.  I should probably stop doing that.  Har har har!

[insert courtesy laugh here]

As some of you may or may not know, Proactiv now offers more than just a cleanser, toner, and healing lotion.  They have expanded their collection to include products such as make-up, lotions with SPF, and my latest obsession: Sheer Finish Mattifying Gel.

[photo courtesy of: www.cosmogirl.com because I am still having laptop/camera issues]

It.  Is.  Amazing.

After showering in the morning, I apply a very thin layer of the gel across my oil refinery of a face.  It feels and looks like a lightweight hair gel, but develops into a clear, smooth, and powdery finish once dried.  I wear it underneath my make-up and stay oil free for at least eight hours!  Since I have started using this product, I haven't busted out my Sephora Blotting Tissues once.

I highly recommend this product!  My only complaint is the price.  Unless you are a Proactiv Club Member, it is $22.00 for one ounce.  That said, a little bit goes a long way!

What do you do to combat shine?

Your title is HILARIOUS!!! I currently use proactiv. I have for a few years now. I've contemplated ordering this, but now, maybe I will. Thanks for the review! I've tried MIster Mat by Givenchy, it doesn't work well.

Kim - Ha ha ha! I can't take credit for my post title. I wish I were that clever! (The corny joke in the first paragraph, unfortunately, IS my own. LOL!) Isn't Proactiv awesome? I also contemplated ordering the mattifying gel for quite some time; I really wish I had picked it up sooner! Thanks for the heads up on the Givenchy... That's good to know!

proactiv has makeup! wow!

I think I need this! I have never tried proactive. But there is a little cart at my mall so maybe i'll stop by next time.

I love products that matify! Clinque has a similar product that I found a few years ago. It's called Pore Minimizer, and it does cover up colors, and it feel soooo good after you apply it!

What's also good for oily skin is the Makeup Forever (MUFE) HD Finishing Powder. It leaves your face feeling light gorgeous soft velvet! It really helps me control the shine and oil on my face :)

<3 <3 <3
Have a great weekend Katie!

Bombchell - Yeah! Weird, huh? I read poor reviews for their concealer, so I think I'm gonna skip that. I might check out some of their powder though!

Beautygirl24 - I really like their stuff. (Although, I do have one product of theirs that I will be ranting about soon!) However, this gel is a wonder gel!

DSK Steph - Me, too! I seriously have the oiliest, grossest T-Zone ever. It drives me nuts. I didn't know about the Clinique Pore Minimizer! That might be good for me to try on my nose. I keep hearing about how amazing MUFE's HD Finishing Powder is... I need to just buck up and buy it already! LOL! Have a great weekend, too! <3

I have a naughty t-zone too! It's so aggravating too! Thanks for posting about the Proactive Mattifying Gel...I may have to check the stand out in the mall.

Kate Gene said...

Miss P - Ugh... How annoying. I feel your pain! Yeah, let me know if you end up trying the gel... Steph listed some alternatives that might be good to check out above!

i'd definitely get this if i wasn't broke at the moment =[ Lol

Kate Gene said...

PiinkCupcakez - Ugh. I hear you on the being broke thing. I'm currently out of work. I think you and I need to start hookin'. TOTALLY KIDDING!

Jen - OMG... That's one of the things that bothered me most about being shiny... I ruined pictures! LOL! That, and the oil makes my bangs greasy. So gross!

April said...

Hehehe I am soo glad you shared with everyone that Proactiv has makeup. When I used to use the kit I purchased their foundation and I loved it! :)

Kate Gene said...

April - LOL! I'm glad to hear their foundation works well! I want to try their eye cream and their concealer next. It's tough, though, because I don't know what shade to get!

had no idea that pro activ had other products besides skin care! personally, I don't haven an oily t zone, but this info could come in handy for some lady friends

thanks!

Kate Gene said...

Lisa - I hope it helps your oily friends! (That sounded really funny. LOL! You know what I mean!) Proactiv is really expanding their collection. I'm eying their make-up now!

proactiv made my acne disappear! I will def check this product out! thanks kate babe! xoxo
have a wonderful week darling!

Kate Gene said...

nee - Proactiv really is like liquid gold! LOL! I'm glad it works for you! It works for me as well. Some people say they find it drying, but I've never had that problem! Yeah, I think this product is worth checking out. Their nose strips? Not so much. I had a really bad experience with them! :(

Enjoy the rest of your day, homey g! LOL!

glitteryeyesxx - I like making fun of myself! I think it's funny, too! I'm not 100% sure if people know when I'm joking or if I'm being serious... I'm glad you get my humor! You've definitely been missed! Where have you been? I'm gonna check out your new post!

Christy said...

yay! i'm a new follower! thanks for the post, it looks very promising! i have a very oily t-zone, i could probably cook a batch of fried chicken with it, haha.

Kate Gene said...

Christy - Thanks for following my blog! I totally LOLd when I read your fried chicken comment! Freaking hilarious!!!!

ShopThrifty said...

lol wow i got the same problem! I was thinking about using Proactiv. Just gotta find out when it usually kicks in for the price we pay for it.

Kate Gene said...

ShopThrifty - For me, it took about a month or so before I saw results. I actually got it to maintain my skin; I didn't have a lot to clear up initially. I know someone who didn't see results for two months! I think it's worth it, but I know there are prescription soaps available. You might want to check with your dermatologist or PCP first to see if they can help!

ting RN said...

oh i'd love to try this because my Tzone is just as bad too.. but the last time I used proactive on my face (6th grade lol) I had the most horrible allergiec reaction :(

Kate Gene said...

ting RN - Oh no!!!! Yeah, I'd skip this then. What a bummer! DSK Steph mentioned a couple of alternatives that might be good for you to try. One of them is a Clinique product, the other a MUFE product!

Unknown said...

ahhh yes, a bag of Lays and a few sprays of Pam. that sounds like me. hahaa! the oiliest part of my face would have to be my nose. maybe i should stop eating oily foods... like the chips i am eating as i type this. hahaha!

Kate Gene said...

Kym - THAT'S WHERE I'M OILIEST, TOO! (I don't know why I just yelled that. I guess I was excited someone could relate. LOL!) Oh, man... If it were up to me, I'd always have a bag of chips in hand. I used to eat a bag of chips and drink a Coke every morning back in the day. Ha! (I don't do that anymore, but I was old enough to know better when I did. LOL!!!!)

You're too funny, missy!! I've used Matte Chance by mark (avon), I think it mattifies me too much, I am definitely a combo skin gal =/

You can check out the reviews on their site :)

xoxo

Kate Gene said...

J - Ha ha! What a cute name for a product! I'm a combo skin gal, but I'd be willing to give it a shot! Do you know anyone who sells Mark?

xoxo

J-ezzy said...

I know, right?! Yeah, I'll email you their links :) (they're all fellow bloggers)

Kate Gene said...

Ooh, thank you! I want to get my Mark on! I hear their shadows are pretty good, too. I just don't know who to talk to about ordering!

I'm a fool... I follow her! LMBO! Thank you for the info! I like her blog and videos. :)

Have you ever thought about making videos? I tried to make one for my giveaway and got so mad at how often I messed up that I gave up. LOL! (What a poor sport, huh?!)

I just saw all your responses to my comments on your blog! I'm gonna go write some novel responses... Now! :)

Oh my! I have the oiliest face evur. I use egg whites, or rub honey on mu face.
For products, I use that Proactiv sulfur mask.

I LOVE Mark eyeshadows! My Avon lady is no longer selling so I'm way sad!!!! I'm so about to jump on the Proactiv bandwagon!

I have a horrible oily t zone too, I love Laura Geller Welcome Matte Skin Enhancer, works well! I've used Sephora too, not too bad but it's hard to smooth foundation after applying the Sephora one! LOL

I heart you katie!

Karleigh said...

wjandsw - I use the Proactiv mask on my face, too! I use honey as well, but I mix in broken down aspirin to make a mask.

Toya T - I just found a sales rep on Blogger who sells Mark. I'm excited to try out their shadows! I just got a Coastal Scents palette, though, so I might have to wait for a little bit. LOL! Is the Laura Gellar product comparable to Proactiv's price? I got mine for $10.00 because I'm a member; you get a discount if you get it sent out with your kits! I heart you, too, girlie! This summer, we're BBQing on the roof! :)

Noobarella - Thank you so much for following me! I really appreciate it! OMG... Your thumbnail photo is awesome! Is that your eye? I know... Us oily girls gotta stick together! LMBO! I'm not sure if Proactiv is available outside the states... I imagine it is?

MyFashionAddictions said...

I have super oily skin too, though I don't use this on a daily basis. Did you know this stuff is a great primer too!? I got it in a set of Proactive, and didn't want to have layers of stuff on my face (e.g. toner, lotion, this gel and then also moisturizer). But yea, I use it when I really want/need my make up to stay put.:D

J-ezzy said...

Are you serious? Me, videos?! I've tried and utterly failed, I have quite a few sitting on my hard drive, lol. I think I'll try to videos again when the sun comes out, or I need a good lamp! So you are not alone!! We shall get into it soon enough!

No worries chica, our lifes get busy :)

Toya T said...

Katie, Laura Geller is spendy, like in the 20 something range, I'm gonna try to find a cheaper product though! I ordered the Proactive night moisturizer, tried it out last night. Not unhappy with it, we'll see how it goes. I also ordered the day time moisturizer with spf, but haven't used it. Will keep you posted!

Kate Gene said...

Gigi - You know, I don't normally use a primer, but I completely agree with you! I actually use this product every day because my face will look as shiny as a mirror if I don't. LOL! I also agree that it's a lot to put on every day... I have like, seven layers of Proactiv on! LOL!

J-ezzy - I must see one of these videos! :) We were chatting about it earlier; it's funny that I just now saw this comment!

Toya T - Yeow! That's a bit steep, but so is the Proactiv! What night moisturizer did you get? I just use the Repairing Lotion at night, but if there's a better one to use at night time, I wanna get it!
