Operation Dress Hunt

When my best friend asked me to be her maid of honor, I was ecstatic!  Sarah is like a sister to me; I am so touched that she chose me to stand beside her on her big day.

We're currently on the hunt for maid of honor and bridesmaid dresses.  I suggested we look at some with poofy sleeves.  For some strange reason, she wasn't into the idea.  (I think someone was worried I'd steal her thunder if I wore a dress that stunning.  Pwhahaha!)

Good thing I have a back-up plan...

Ha ha ha!

But seriously, do any of you have designer or dress recommendations?  Sarah and Mr. Sarah are getting married during the summer of 2011.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!  The Bride-to-Be follows my blog, so say hi!  :)

By the way, her colors are jewel toned pinks and purples, like the ones in the photograph below.  Isn't that a gorgeous color combination?

I hope y'all are well!

Thanks, ladies!

Oh geez, it's been a while since I was planning a wedding (my own that is) my girls got theirs at Macys.com but they sold fast one girl had to drop from a size 10 to 0...her dress still looked divine though, lol
I'll go through my links and get back to you :)

Congrats on being MOH, it's quite the honor!!

J - How long have you been married? My husband and I got married in 2003, so I too don't remember much about planning, but I'm workin' on it. :)

Macy's is a great idea! I know they have some expensive dresses there, but some of them are reasonably priced and very nice! Yeah, send me the links when you get a chance! I wanna see more of your wedding pics!

That's awesome your friend went from a 10 to a 0! Thank goodness for tailors!

I seriously started screaming when Sarah asked me to be her MOH. She's an amazing friend!!!!

I hope youre having a great holiday!!

Becky - Isn't that dress gross? That is actually a PROM dress! Who would let their daughter out of the house looking like that? LOL!

Yeah, I had a great time planning my own wedding, but finding dresses was definitely stressful! Thanks for the Macy's suggestion. I think the bride and I will have to stop there! :)

I live in Montreal, and there is a full street of wedding dresses and stuff for bridemaids...I don't know what you are really looking for, but on Martha Stewart's weddings website(http://www.marthastewartweddings.com) there is a ton of good ideas that are changing almost everyday. She sometimes showcase awesome dresses that are really affordable. I hope your quest for the dress will be «très fructueuse» !

Kate Gene said...

Dominique - Thank you so much for your response! :) I wish we lived closer to Montreal... A whole street full of wedding stuff sounds like something we need to see! We're going to a wedding expo in January, which is probably the closest we're going to get to what you guys have.

I LOVE Martha Stewart's wedding stuff! My husband and I had one of her cakes re-created for our wedding cake! I'm going to have to look on her site for more ideas... Great suggestion!

P. S. Mon français est très mauvais! LOL! What does fructueuse mean?

We got married Sept 2008 :) Together for over 6 years now!

J Crew, BR, and Ann Taylor carry bridesmaids dresses, no?

The Macy dresses were under $150, that's what I remember :)

J - Aw! Congratulations! That's great! How did you guys meet?

My husband and I got married in 2003 and have been together for ten years this January. He's my best friend and I love him dearly! (I better stop now or this comment will end up very sappy and mushy. LOL!)

I looked at J. Crew, but the prices were a tad too high. It sounds like Macy's is the way to go! Thank you for your suggestions, homey g! LOL!

Oh ;) «Très fructueuse» means abundantly productive ;)

Kate Gene said...

Sharlene - Aw, you are too kind! :) I laughed when I saw your suggestion for the bride. LOL! She's looking at dresses that don't reveal as much. I can't imagine why! Ha ha!

Dominique - OH! LOL! I actually Googled "fructueuse", but everything that pulled up was in French! :D Thank you!

We met in a weird way, long story short through a friend and let's just say I hated him and vice versa, we only spoke to each other b/c our mutual friend called me asking me to call G (hubby) for him since G was ignoring his calls & he lost his house keys and couldn't get in...okay, so I call G and we gets to talkin about the club promotion business and how he was starting one and I told him I was interested in promoting for him...he never intended on calling me back, so one ay he accidentally called me thinking I was another person with a name that starts with a "J" and he invited me to a fake meeting, thinking I would say no, WRONG, I said yes b/c I'm a nerd, this is getting too long...I'll cut it short :)

Homey G is here for you!!!

10 years!!!! PROPS!!!!

J-ezzy - It's hilarious that you didn't like your husband at first! HA HA HA! And how funny is it that he set up a fake meeting? LOL! Do you still work for your hubby?

I met my husband on AOL in 1999. (We used to be embarrassed of our "how we met" story because back then, meeting people online wasn't cool.) Surprisingly, we discovered that we had mutual friends. We went on our first date in December; on January 6th we made things official. Our ten year is just a few days away! ♥ I love my husband so, so, so much!

xoxo
