I hope you all enjoyed the holiday.  Sadly, I had/have the flu and missed out on all the food, fun, and festivities.  Ugh...  I think it's time to invest in some masks.

SkinCareRx.com Friends and Family Sale

I am a serious procrastinator.  Most (okay, all) of my Christmas shopping is done between the 20th and 24th of December.  By the time I get to the mall, the items I want are usually sold out.

If you should ever find yourself in this situation, do not fret.  Gas stations offer a plethora of potential gifts.  Who wouldn't light up like a Christmas tree at the sight of Cheetos and an air freshener?  Ha ha!

This year, I'd like to gift my loved ones with more than my usual Slim Jims and  Slurpees.  (I'm kidding!)  There are so many great sales happening right now!  SkinCareRx.com is currently hosting a great Friends and Family Sale.  They sell a wide variety of skin care products from brands such as: La Roche-Posay, Boscia, Clairsonic, and more!

Use the code below to receive 25% off your order*!

FF25

This code expires December 1, 2010.  If you're not ready to purchase now, make sure to check 'em out on Black Friday and Cyber Monday for more deals.

Fortunately, I am not as ill as T-Bone.

Apothica.com Giveaway: My Best Yet! [CLOSED]

Spending an afternoon perusing counters neatly lined with vibrantly colored make-up, trying on rich body creams and perfume, and browsing through beautiful products to accent your home sounds like time well spent to this beauty blogger.  I am confident that most of you will agree, seeing that you're beauty-holics as well.

However, as enticing as an excursion like this sounds, I guarantee four hours at the mall with yours truly would leave you questioning our friendship.  Why?  Because I am the most indecisive shopper ever.  The other day, my adorable hubby and I swung by Target.  After a stress filled hour in the hair care section, I finally selected a set of hot rollers I deemed worthy of my $30.00.  As we headed towards the door, red and white bags in hand, I hesitated.

Me:  "Can we swing by customer service?"

Husband:  "Why?"

Me:  "I want to take my hot rollers back."

Mind you, we had just spent the previous hour at Ulta, pricing and comparing roller sets.  I'm sure you can imagine the look on my hubby's face.  XD

The generous folks at Apothica.com have kindly offered to send one of my lovely followers a $50.00 gift card.  The really great thing about their website is that they offer only the crème de la crème of beauty products, fragrances, goodies for your home.  They even have a section for the man in your life!  Shopping on Apothica.com has been a dream come true for my husband and me.  While I hem and haw over what to buy, he plays Madden.  It works well.  ;)

Each of these items are under $50.00 -- and definitely on my wish list!

Stila Cosmetics Holiday Lip Glaze Collection 2010

Lippmann Collection Nail Lacquer - Ruby Red Slippers

This tin would look - and smell - lovely on a bathroom counter top!

Take a peek at their site.  I guarantee you'll find more than a few things to swoon over.  If for some crazy reason you do not, don't fret!  The winner's gift card may also be used on Apothica's sister sites: SkinCareRx.com and SkinBotanica.com.

Review: Ariel's Secret Garden

What is this?  A post from Kate Gene?

No, you are not hallucinating.  [Insert excuses for not blogging here.]  After (what's considered) a century of silence in the beauty community, I am back with a review of a wonderful company: Ariel's Secret Garden.

Ariel's Secret Garden is an Etsy Shop that sells delicious homemade bath treats.  Sherri and Ariel, the mother and daughter team behind the brand, sell fresh goat milk soap, pretty bubble bars, luxurious body frosting, and other fragrant goodies to pamper your skin.

I ordered a five ounce bar of Honey Crunch (their LUSH "Honey I Washed the Kids" dupe) during their summer sale.  My grand total, including shipping, came to $7.84.  A little over a week later, a weighty, sweet smelling envelope arrived in our mail box.

[The only item I actually ordered was the bar of soap pictured on the bottom, right.  Can you say "generous"?]

After eagerly tearing into my bubble mailer, my jaw dropped.  I received far more than I ordered.  Sherri and Ariel are notorious for their cute packaging and substantial samples.  Still...  I had only ordered one bar of soap!

Nestled safely inside layers of bubble wrap, I first discovered the samples:

Lavender Martini Soap Samples

Lavender and booze may sound like a strange combination, but together create a lovely aroma!  Although I normally prefer to use liquid hand soap, I used these samples every time I needed to wash up.  They left my hands feeling soft, smooth, and lightly scented.

Mulberry Soap Samples

Mulberry smells like a sweet, slightly tart, ripe mulberry.  It was my favorite fragrance of the bunch!  Like my Lavender Martini samples, they left my skin looking, feeling, and smelling wonderful!

Cherry Bomb Soap Freebie

As if the samples I received weren't enough, a whole bar of Cherry Bomb soap was thrown in.  It smelled exactly like a cherry sucker!  It felt fantastic on my skin, and had a very strong scent.  I prefer heavily perfumed products, and this more than met my needs.

Honey Crunch Bar of Soap

This soap smells rich and yummy.  It was the only bar of soap out of the bunch that was created using olive oil.  I typically prefer goat milk soap, however, this bar didn't let me down.

Everything Else

A coupon card, a personalized thank you card, and a Hello Kitty bag with an umbrella charm were also thrown in.  (I live in the rainy Emerald City; the charm is very fitting!)

I can't thank the ladies at Ariel's Secret Garden enough!  They are true professionals and very sweet!  I will definitely be purchasing from them again in the future.  Please check out their Etsy Shop, YouTube Channel, and blog.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!
